NSU men's soccer got its start in the mid-1980's and became one of the first programs at NSU to become a threat in the NAIA. In fact, NSU's first All-American was men's soccer's Dag Cohen in 1986.

The days of the Knights in the NAIA are long gone, but not forgotten. NSU has a proud men's soccer alumni base filled with players who paved the way for the current crop. Juan Ramos, inducted in 2013 into the NSU Athletics Hall of Fame, became the fifth player to be granted hall of fame status, marking the highest number of hall-of-famers among men's sports.
